Bill Simpson,
Kyle Mills has done it again! Ripped from the current headlines, this book follows Mitch Rapp as he heads out on an unsanctioned rescue, working for a trillionaire against the current presidents wishes! I found this book to be engrossing and emotional as you would expect any Mitch Rapp adventure to be。 This is a must read!

I have to be honest。 I thought that the previous Kyle Mills Mitch Rapp books have been inconsistent。 The first three were OK and Kyle was getting his footing。 The last three have been a bit disappointing, without giving away spoilers, Mitch basically saved humanity/the world three times。 From World War Three, to a global pandemic to an attack on the U。S。 Power Grid。 I really didn't like the second half of Total Power and thought it took a wrong turn。 I only gave that one 3 stars on Goodreads。 Th I have to be honest。 I thought that the previous Kyle Mills Mitch Rapp books have been inconsistent。 The first three were OK and Kyle was getting his footing。 The last three have been a bit disappointing, without giving away spoilers, Mitch basically saved humanity/the world three times。 From World War Three, to a global pandemic to an attack on the U。S。 Power Grid。 I really didn't like the second half of Total Power and thought it took a wrong turn。 I only gave that one 3 stars on Goodreads。 They would have made decent 90s action summer movies, the total cliche ones。 In the last three books, the action started for Mitch on page one and never stopped。 The characters never really evolved or moved forward, let alone have moments where they were able show their life and backstory。 I was so disappointed in Red War, that with the last two books, I waited until they were on sale for $1。99 on kindle。Now, yes, Mitch has saved the day on a grand scale before, but I think Vince realized he couldn't do it every book and with American Assassin and Kill Shot he breathed some new energy in the series and I think all the fans love those books。 I hope and wish they continue and finish that story someday, maybe even with a couple of books。 There is so much potential there。 After a few previous attempts I was selected to be an Ambassador this year。 I would like to Thank Emily Bestler Books and Atria Books for a copy。 All that said, Enemy at the Gates is more like it。 I really, really liked this book。 This is the Mitch Rapp I love and have been waiting for。 Mitch gets some down time。 The readers get the old clandestine Mitch, sneaking in and out of countries, making surprise appearances。 You get the most Irene Kennedy and political intrigue。 Mitch just isn't sweaty and running around reacting to the action all the time。 I like the new physical location that Mitch settled in。 I thought his previous location of gated suburbia was very un-Mitch like。 Mitch is more of an off-the-grid kind of guy。 While no book is perfect, I gave this one 5 stars。 I feel Kyle finally did it and I hope this new trend continues。 For the first time in a long time, I'm really looking forward to the next installment。 Maybe, I'll be lucky enough to be an Ambassador again。 Fingers Crossed! 。。。more

Mitch Rapp is back and the threats Kyle Mills continues to delve into are incredibly realistic。 Much like Total Power, Mills makes you wonder about the threats that are out there and the role politics play in each and every chain of events。 It doesn't take the mind much to stretch real life for the characters Enemy at the Gates introduces, and the subtle coronavirus references add to this current timeframe。 Just know if you are going to take a shot at Mitch, you better not miss。 Mitch Rapp is back and the threats Kyle Mills continues to delve into are incredibly realistic。 Much like Total Power, Mills makes you wonder about the threats that are out there and the role politics play in each and every chain of events。 It doesn't take the mind much to stretch real life for the characters Enemy at the Gates introduces, and the subtle coronavirus references add to this current timeframe。 Just know if you are going to take a shot at Mitch, you better not miss。 。。。more

Book Review – Vince Flynn’s “Enemy at the Gates” by Kyle Mills is Book 20 in the Mitch Rapp series and Kyle Mill’s best pieces of work out of the series! Loyalty to the individual now rates higher than loyalty to nation。Democracy can be chaotic at times, and autocracy demands all, not a sharing of power。 Kyle Mills is postulating a deliberate analogy to today’s world。 Did you take note? The Cooks see democracy as interfering in their autocratic lifestyle。 Irene Kennedy’s biggest problem and worry, is her Agency being manipulated for the power it holds。 Mitch refuses to pledge loyalty to Cook。 Irene Kennedy shares Rapp’s viewpoint that politicians are not trustworthy。 Kennedy’s antennae arise when the President lets operational status on a non-advised event slip out。Her concerns now are for Rapp’s safety and that of his operatives。 What is more disconcerting is a mole at the top level of national security。 Someone who is supplying the President with undisclosed top security info。 Mitch and Scott Coleman, reaching the same conclusion, have begun conferring with select intell insider sources。 A ticked-off American President is not conducive to smooth operations wherever they are executed。 The question now is who is the mole revealing details of their operations and personal information on those involved in the operation。 The President is enraged at Rapp’s interference that has cost him a considerable amount of monetary loss。Rapp is equally annoyed after rescuing an American special ops team who were set up to be executed and is determined to trace, track down the mole who set them all up。 The plan? Set up Nicholas Ward as the bait。 Neither Kennedy or Ward are happy about this decision; Rapp is adamant, the mole must be found。The stage is set involving some of the most cunning and powerful players on the world stage。 For the President et al, it is all about money, his/their (Wall Street)money, as in betting on a sure thing and having the rug pulled out from underneath。 For others, it is being trapped between two titans, both determined to win。 It is much like a chess game。 Move, and countermove。 For one it is about loyalty to nation and comrades in arms。For another, it is personal loyalty。 The mutual theme is betrayal and a no-win situation for all involved。ENEMY AT THE GATE is a superb novel of espionage, sabotage, political realities in today’s world, intrigue。 It accurately depicts jungle warfare as it occurs in isolated regions of the world。 Cannibalism is not an unheard of activity in the Third World。 It is fighting at its most savage。 The novel contains a look at how Mitch has settled down to commitment, a look at weaponry of future warfare。 It is an examination of US politics。 Kyle Mills’s analogy to how politics play out in the United States is stunning and very accurate。 This is a study alluding to dictatorial takeover, autocracy by personality cult with loyalty to nation firmly kicked off its pedestal。 Governments will be shaken to their core。 For Mitch Rapp and Irene Kennedy, betrayal cuts to the heart with horrific reality and an OMG finish。 It sets the stage for the next two books expected from Mills。It becomes an all out fight for Lady Liberty and her ideals。 It is a novel designed to make Westerners stop and think。 Ponder the direction we are all headed to, that is, if we are smart enough to realize what is happening and act accordingly。 This novel is just superb, Kyle Mills! Kudos 5*! 。。。more

Yes! Rapp is worried about his weight, diet, exercise and family (not in that order)。 Perfect。Within the first chapter I was hooked and ended up reading 85% of the novel in one sitting。 The only reason I didn't finish it in one bite - I had to work the next day and get up early! (Thanks Kyle for keeping me up late! lol) Several years ago, I was away with friends and someone handed me a glass of red wine。 For a single 10oz pour, the value was about $75 (just a glass, not the bottle!) Wow! It was an incredible drink, and I treasured every sip。 Same thing applies to Enemy at the Gates。 I enjoyed every word and took my time to savor the story and treasure it。 I know it will be at least twelve months until the next novel!I can easily place this novel as one of my favorites in the series。 Make no mistake folks。 The Mitch Rapp Legacy is in great hands with Kyle Mills and we get to reap the rewards of his efforts。 Bravo Zulu。 。。。more

Highly entertaining as always。 If you have read other books in the series and enjoyed them, you will definitely love this one。 If you’ve never read a book in this series, start here and you will surely want the others。 This book will be released on 9-14-21 and you can preorder from wherever books are sold。 I was provided an advanced copy by the publisher and I am giving an honest review。
